Do your characters have their own voices as you write them? I'm asking this because Jorg is one of the most complete characters that I've ever met, and I can only imagine the process behind creating him(or perhaps, letting him speak). Have you ever assumed some of his(Jorg's) emotions, characteristics or thoughts while writing?
Mark Lawrence
"voices" is a very broad term. If you say that your character speaks to you then some people imagine you're actually hearing voices in your head. Perhaps some people are... not me though. I get to 'feel' a character I'm writing - I get to know what they will do or say in a situation without having to struggle over it. That's what I mean when I say a character has a voice or speaks to me.
When I write a highly emotional piece I will feel those emotions (it wouldn't be working otherwise), but I'm sure I've never assumed any of a character's emotions past the point of writing them, or characteristics at any point.

Dear Mark, I just finished reading The Broken Empire trilogy in Italian. I usually read books in their original language, but this time I risked with my mother tongue. Are you involved in the translation process? I found the Italian titles quite disappointing. The three books are titled as: Principe/Re/Imperatore dei fulmini, that in english would have been Prince/King/Emperors of lightnings. Why lightnings?

Hello Mr.Lawrence! I just finished the Broken Empire trilogy. I took my time reading it so I could savor every second. <3 It's hands down in my top 3 favorite trilogies so THANK YOU! Gushing aside... I've just started the "Red Queen' s War"'s first book and I'm curious how you pronounce Jalan? I assume it's a "j" like jam. But is it Jal-en? Or Juh-lahn? Excuse my awkward phonetics.
