Lois Lowry:
We had an interesting argument about the motivations of the leaders in The Giver, and we came to the conclusion that there is little to no personal motivation to keep their world the way it is besides their faith in the system. Why do they do it? Is it just because we need the world that way for the story?

Your work is emotional and raw. I know that you have used life events to inspire your books, and those inspirations have been proven to be the most beloved of your writings. I've also read your blog posts and wonder if your role as a mother and a grandmother are going to come up in another piece? To what extent has your already published work been inspired by your children and grandchildren?
