How do beginner writers protect their work that's still in progress from others using the material?

If your work is still in progress, no one should see it, unless you belong to a writers' group. Everyone in the group should be at your level of expertise, and you should be able to trust other beginning writers not to plagiarize your material. If you don't trust them that much, find another group to join.

When you published your first novel how did you find people who weren't related to you or your friends to review it? I'm about to publish my first novel at the age of 80 and would like to find a few people to review it that might be more objective than those close to me.

Hi Charlaine. I'm a new fan but have already read 30 of your books. I just re-read the Sookie Stackhouse short story "If I Had A Hammer". It might be my favorite Sookie short story. I especially liked the teen-aged psychic character of Quiana. Did she ever or might she ever appear in another story or book?

I love your books I read all Zookie Stackhouse series, Lily Bard series and Harper Connelly books and I loved the end of Zookie's because since the first books I was hoping for that end I like Sam ^.^ and I am sad that you are not making more books of Lily, and I want to ask you if you will write more of Harper?
