How did you feel about the film adaptation of your book, The Giver, particularly the ending? Do you feel that the film makers captured the important themes adequately? Is there anything you would have liked to be in the film or eliminated?

I missed the House of the Old. But they needed to cut down the number of different locations in order to save time, so the kids in the film volunteer at the Nurturing Center, which makes sense. But I do miss being with the Elderly.

I love The Giver so much, I also read it in one day! Thank you for this amazing book! My question is: how old is Jonas? In the book it captured him as 11 year-old. But somehow I read in a quiz by someone here in Goodreads that said he is 19? Also the movie says that he is around 18. But I thought they just changed in the movie it for some reasons. I am confused and I want to be sure from the author. Thanks.

First of all hi!! 2 years ago luckily I had the oppurtunity to read the Giver for my English course. This was one of the question that came from the teacher. As far as we know you wasn't planning to write and explaining end to the Giver series. But after a long while, you wrote Son as a finale. What did make you change your idea about explaining everything? Fan's pressure? Editor's pressure?
