Hi Matt - I've never had any conscious story inspiration from other authors, no.
Character-wise, Jorg was definitely initially inspired by Alex from A Clockwork Orange, and Jalan by Harry Flashman from the Flashman books.

I'm at a festival at the moment, by obligation. I was going to be sad all day but then I remembered I had Red Sister downloaded on my phone. Skies are blue now, but it's so loud out here, and all I have is my phone, earbuds and a bench. Do you recommend any playlists to listen to while reading Red Sister? I'd like to drown out this crap music.

The Signed Page usually will have signed bookplates, but wanted to go to the source to see whether you had any plans for the American market. Hey Mark! Love Love Love the Prince of Thorns series. And the ending! So I'm just starting the second book of your second series. I know it was a conscious choice to lighten the story with a tongue in cheek narration.. Or perhaps he just spoke to you that way? Lol Couple questions: how have you found the feedback vs a grittier tone? The story is no lighter than the Prince series, but the tone is altogether diff.
