Lois, I am a fan of The Giver, I was a media specialist for the last 17 years of my 40 year teaching career and my question is this: Do you feel that many of the ideas from your book have been used in the latest books for YA readers, such as, Stefanie Collins, the Hunger Games? I recognize many similarities, does that offend you or are you honored by their works?

Lois Lowry I think speculation about the future almost invariably leads to some of the same ideas. I am in good company with those other books.
