I read a review which said there were many pages of detailed descriptions of physical, psychological and sexual abuse that there should have has trigger warnings. Is that true? How is that entertaining to read?

Yes. Personally I struggled to get through those parts of the book, and I would certainly give a content warning to anyone I recommended the book to.
