Tina asked Marius Gabriel:

Can you pick a book you've written and said, "this is the most challenging book I've done to date?" Why was it? Conversely, which book has been the easiest one to write and why? I'm trying to choose one of your books to read, which one should I start with? I am looking for another author to feed my fangirl rabbit-hole.

Marius Gabriel So sorry it took me nearly a year to answer you Tine, I am not on social media much these days. Apologies. The book I found most mysterious, even while I was writing it, was Gabon. It took a long time to write, and I found myself having to write and rewrite the same scenes dozens of times.

The easiest book to write was my latest, The Ocean Liner -- and the reason was that I spent a couple of years researching and thinking about the characters before I ever put pen to paper.

So, oddly, both books took the same effort and length of time. One took a lot of writing and the other a lot of thinking. I hope this helps!
