Just to start off, I want to say how fantastic your books are. I have never been a big book person but after starting on Sins of Empire (started here now going back through the rest) the characters and story are something that keeps me wanting to come back for more. I wanted to ask two questions really: What books have inspired your writing style? Would you ever think of doing a Ka-Poel back story book?
Brian McClellan
Writing style is hard to say, because it's not something I ever think about. Usually I name *content* inspirations, which would include Count of Monte Cristo, the French Revolution, Sharpe's Rifles, Fullmetal Alchemist, Les Mis, and more.
I waffle on doing a Ka-poel back story. You're going to find out a LOT more about Ka-poel in books 2 and 3 of the current series, so that might satisfy you. I actually have a loose plot for a novella that shows how she arrived in Fatrasta, but I haven't decided whether to write it or not.

I was wondering if you can add a compass rose to your maps? Since sometimes in the books you refer to south west or any other direction and it's not bottom left corner as I would assume, since normally north is top of the map, but somewhere else completely, so it got me confused... not sure if it's intentional! But would help the world-building/clarity imho...!

Hey Brian, want to say I am a huge fan of the Powder Mage Trilogy. It's probably my favorite series ever. So i was wondering if you are planning on releasing a colored map of Adro, Kez, Deliv, Novi, etc.? Like the one at the beginning of the books. I think it would be awesome to frame and have one.
