Does the dialogue seem to be American English rather than British English? Other than Parks telling Gallagher to "pop the bonnet," I didn't notice a lot of British idioms. The Kindle ebook I read did use British spellings (favourite, colour), but other than that and the place names, it would be hard to identify this as the work of a British writer. Is this typical of contemporary British fiction?
