Rob asked:

Does the dialogue seem to be American English rather than British English? Other than Parks telling Gallagher to "pop the bonnet," I didn't notice a lot of British idioms. The Kindle ebook I read did use British spellings (favourite, colour), but other than that and the place names, it would be hard to identify this as the work of a British writer. Is this typical of contemporary British fiction?

Andy Phillips I'm British and thought it never occurred to me that it isn't a book by a British author. There are too many things that just 'feel' British and there are quite a few references to the local geography etc.
