Is this even close to being as epic as Sarah J. Maas's work like it says in the blurb?

I think Maas was mentioned for the sole fact that this book is, to be cut and dry, about a group of people fighting to become one of the Queens left hand, aka assassin. I personally don’t see the hype with Maas’ writing. I mean, it’s ok and passes the time, but she was/is crazy predictable and painstakingly repetitive. This book however, while the writing was just okay, has so much potential, and the backstory that’s building is really something! Much more interesting than a spoiled brat “Assassin” that got caught and sent to a salt mine, who complains to herself that her boobs became lackluster there because she lost so much weight. Aelin from ToG is pathetic, Assassin wise, compared to these characters. Well, she’s really just pathetic in general, lol. So no, I wouldn’t compare the two authors. Give this book a try, if you haven’t already. I’m eager for the sequel!(less)
