Does it bother you that television or movie adaptations are so different from your books? How much control do you have when your work is adapted?

I have made my peace with that. The needs of television are very different from those of books, and a television writer has to bow to that necessity. I don't have control at all. But the book sales go up if the series is popular, and that's my goal. I'm all about the books.

Hi Charlaine. A friend and I are currently buddy reading The Harper Connelly series (we recently read the Midnight books) because we wanted to see where Manfed first appeared in your universe. We're reading book 2, Manfred just appeared and my friend and I are curious to know if you created his character knowing he would star in his own books later on or if after creating him you decided to write his story? Dear Charlaine! Thank you for bringing us Sookie and her universe. She often keeps me company when falling asleep, read by Johanna Parker. Charles Twining, the bartender sent to get revenge on Eric on behalf of Hot Rain. Charles tries to murder Sookie by burning down her house. Why didn't Eric pay for the house repairs? He paid for a coat, phone and driveway before when he was involved both before and after.
