I LOVE THIS ENDING. It leaves you with a sense of discouragement and hope at the same time--discouragement that Eleanor's issues are so much deeper than she could've imagined, and hope that she now has a friend and a counselor to get her though it. Gave me chills.

Think I read so many mysteries, I easily knew mummy was in her head. The best part about this book for me was when she was strange, when she was getting herself ready for the imaginary musician love affair. And her humor. Liked Ray and Sammy and how that all came together. The last 100 pages though, was rather tedious.

The ending is superb, and it really comes as a surprise. But there were clues all along. First, she didn't actually have a location for her mother, and she could never actually say where she was. Second, her mother's constant changibility--the voice took up accents and ideas, and intonations. Third, and the most telling, the fact that she heard her mother's voice at random times, and kept trying to hear her own voice, choose herself.

Yes! Wasn't that a great twist?? Made the ending just perfect IMHO.

I loved this book but wasn't sure about the ending, I felt it left too many questions.... but maybe there will be a sequel! I really hope they make it into a movie.

I hear in some reviews and comments that Eleanor is the one that kills her mom and sister and its not Mummy actually. That this is the twist in the book . Well is that true? I thought the only twist was that mummy was dead and E was imagining the existence ...

**SPOILER**I suspected the mother was imaginary early on because really, it seemed preposterous that she would be able to call (if she were indeed incarcerated) a child that she had so abused. It was also questionable on Eleanor's part, i.e. why not change your number? Block your mom? etc. etc. so yes, mom is dead and the phone calls were imaginary
