Have you ever started writing a character and then surprised yourself when the character evolved and turned out completely different from what you had in the beginning? :)

Rainbow Rowell Yes, definitely. Sometimes characters work their way into more and more scenes. Park's dad was meant to be a very small character in Eleanor & Park, but I kept reaching for him. He became really important to the plot.
