(view spoiler)[In Slow Dance, do Cary and Shiloh have a baby together? It was such a surprise discussion at the end that I would really love an answer. I feel strongly that the answer is 'yes' because Shiloh would do anything for Cary and Cary wants a family. But I would love your take.
Can you provide more insight into why Cary joins the Navy? Especially considering it will take him away from Shiloh and she is so against it? (hide spoiler)]

I do think that they'll have a baby. Because, as you said, Shiloh is willing to make changes and sacrifices for Cary. And I also think she likes being a mother and would be open to more kids if she had a supportive partner.
As for Cary joining the Navy ... In high school, they weren't making plans together. And they had different ideals. I think Cary felt called by the structure and mission of the military. And the Navy would provide him a clear path forward. He really needed that.

I haven't visited. Simon's background was inspired by a friend and early reader. And when I read about the Singing Ringing Tree, it seemed like it belonged in a fantasy novel.

He wasn't intentionally, but they're such similar characters that I think the answer must be yes!

I think he probably notices it. But I don't think that Baz loses his mind around blood. (I'm thinking back to when other characters are bleeding ...) Also, it wouldn't just be Penny; he's around women and girls all the time, so he'd have to be accustomed to it. It might also hit him differently because menstrual blood isn't the same as blood straight from your blood vessels. It's a combination of tissues and fluids. (Some people will think this question is gross, but I guess the whole point of the Simon Snow book is to treat archetypical fantasy characters like they're real ...)

Thank you so much for reading it!! Yes, I am planning three more novels about adults. The next one, CHERRY BABY, comes out next year (2026).

Hi! He's working at a ranch in Colorado, and on his way home to Nebraska to see Cath at Christmas.
I think Levi would like to own his own ranch, but that's difficult to do if you can't afford the land and the start-up costs. I imagined that he'd gone to Colorado for work.

I think I'll try.

For a cozy book, Fangirl has several hospitalizations and serious mental health crises, and a character who has been abandoned by her mother and her twin. That's a lot of angst! I think of most of my books as both ANGSTY and REASSURING. If you're looking for straight-up cozy, you might want to check out my graphic novel, Pumpkinheads, with artist Faith Erin Hicks; my short story collection, Scattered Showers, which includes several cheerful stories; and my novel Attachments, which is even less angsty than Fangirl.

Thank you so much. I'm really glad that you got something new out of it! It's interesting because I originally wrote Eleanor & Park for an adult audience, and I wasn't sure how it would land with teens ... I can see now that it resonates very differently, depending on where you are in life.
As for a sequel, it's always possible. I planned a sequel as soon as I finished. This idea resonates differently with ME every year.

Good God, I sure do reuse names. Okay, so Eleanor and Park and Shiloh and Cary are the same age and go to the same high school, so this is possible ... But, looking at the context, I don't think these Mikeys could be the same character.
I work with a continuity editor now, and she tells me that I'm always putting "Dawn"s and "Lisa"s into the background of my Gen X books. It's embarrassing!

Hi! I don't really plan things this way. I sort of get the characters in my head, and then I write whatever story suits them. This means that I jump around a lot, from adult characters to teen characters, contemporary, fantasy, prose, comics. I've always been the sort of person to read across genre and medium, and I guess I'm that kind of writer, too.

This is a really interesting question. I don't know that I could sell a Landline sequel to a publisher ... But I've thought that it would be interesting to tell a story from Neal's POV set in the future.

My last name rhymes with towel or growl. Though I say it with 1.5 syllables.

Thank you -- I'm so glad you're enjoying the manga adaptation. The art by Gabi Nam is so wonderful, I feel like I'm experiencing the book in a new way. Yes, I definitely rooted Cath in my own experiences as a fannish person. I was imagining what it might be like to grow up in the age of internet fandom -- to have a community to share my fanfiction with.

Thank you!! I will admit that I have outlined a sequel to Pumpkinheads. It's very possible that Faith and I will take on those characters again.

(view spoiler)[Hi Rainbow! I love Scattered Showers! Attachments is my all-time favorite book, so I got teary-eyed reading Beth & Jennifer's texts and Lincoln's sweet narration again. It felt like seeing old friends. I was happy seeing them grow old together. For the ending, I was confused if that meant Beth was 100% not pregnant or was it open-ended and she still might/might not be pregnant? If it's the latter, will we find out? :) (hide spoiler)]
Rainbow Rowell
Thank you!
(SPOILERS)
I think she is not pregnant. And that the ending was about them speaking out loud that those hopes had receded.

Oh, thank you -- and that's an interesting question. I'm never sure which comics projects to include. Maybe because I don't know how long I will be "on" a book. I usually choose one comics project for my bio.
Rainbow Rowell
I chose that time because it was a time (and place) that I knew well. Some of the things in the book were directly inspired by my own experiences. And some are more fuzzily inspired by reality. And some are totally made up.
