Madyson Loya
Madyson Loya asked Colleen Houck:

Do you ever enter a stage where you are unable to write? You feel as if your mind is thinking about everything else in your busy life but writing? Would you please give those who are struggling advice on what to do when this happens?

Colleen Houck That's a great question and the answer is, write anyway. =) That is probably not the answer you want to hear or were expecting. Sometimes you have to take time away. There's no way around it. You're moving. Your kids and hubby want to go on vacation. You need to buy groceries. You've gotta do what you've gotta do. But if it's just a matter of your brain being otherwise engaged, you have to turn it off and work. There's always a reason to put off writing. On the flip side, I have a very difficult time turning off my writing brain to enjoy vacations or grocery shopping. This is the curse/blessing of being a writer. You see ideas everywhere. If you're lucky, you get a chance to write them down or your brain remembers. In most cases, for me, unplugging is harder than plugging in.
