Have you seen that book 5 of the Queen's Thief series (Megan Whalen Turner) is coming out in May? I found out about this series through you. Also, I don't know if you care for podcasts, but a main character of the S-town podcast reminded me a bit of Miles if his life had taken a different tack. It's good listening and I'd love to know what you think of it should you happen to give it a try!

Yes, I did know about the upcoming Turner -- it sounds very interesting. I probably won't get to a podcast due to my 24/7 being already pretty full, but it's good to know such things exist.

Is the Count Selig Vorkosigan from the Time of Isolation who is mentioned a few times in the books also the father of Count Piotr? If not, do you have any ideas about Piotr's father? We know he was married to a Vorrutyer and that Piotr had inherited by age 22. Does that mean the Count Pierre's father died during the First Cetagandan War or before the end of the Time of Isolation?

Any chance of a historical fiction project? Have you ever read Dorothy Dunnett's Lymond series, Stephenson's Baroque Cycle or Brim's Uplift series? As do yours, these authors’ heroes embrace their era’s complexities. Did you read Pilgrim's Progress? Lastly, thank you for having an entomologist in your books. They are fine and unique people who live among us (and with us) too often unappreciated.

Penric can get water from the air, and also turn it to ice. I wonder what else? Purify seawater (any advantage over air?)? Concentrate alcoholic drinks (like winter wine but faster)? Separate water into hydrogen and oxygen (for what purpose?)? Weld objects together (maybe not just metals)? Heat food like a microwave oven, or freeze it? Nuclear fission, probably not. Nuclear fusion, surely not.
