Where did you get the inspiration from for Try Not to Breathe?
Jennifer R. Hubbard
I had long wanted to write about suicide and depression from the aspect of recovery, of stepping back from the brink, of healing, but I didn't have the right characters or situation. I was attempting to write a verse novel and started with a scene of a boy standing under a waterfall. I didn't know who he was or why he was there, but then it occurred to me he might be the one recovering from a suicide attempt, and the story unfolded from there.
