Goodreads asked Vee James:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Vee James I believe in starting with short pieces and learning the foundations of good writing. It takes less time to produce the full work, less time to revise, and the investment of time and energy is not so costly. You can also try so many different things in short form writing.
New writers should get in the habit of writing every day, whether it's journal or prose. Just like a marathon runner, you need to build-up your writing over time, exercise the muscle.
Then go for a novella, take part in a 30,000 word NaNoWriMo, challenge yourself to finish no matter how crazy and disconnected the prose becomes.
