Me too! :) It was a tough decision though. There are several books in this poll that are already on my TBR and others that I may add. So many good choices!

I was surprised that this club hadn't read The Book Thief yet. I thought I was the only person left on the planet that hadn't read it. lol. I have it sitting on my bookshelf waiting though. It's been there almost all year as my "next" book.

message 12: by Ella (new)

I haven't read it yet either Kristie, I started last year in my non-reading phase and it didn't grab me so I gave up :/

Not sure if that's because I didn't like it or because I just wasn't really in a reading mood. I only question it because so many people say it's amazing ... I just didn't see it at the time.

message 14: by Beth (new)

Beth I just started Book Thief the other day. I am only a little way into it but so far I like it.

I also thought I was the only person on the planet who hadn't read it!

I didn't find amazing either and I was not in a non-reading mood. I have the same problem with The Golem and the Jinni but maybe it's because I'm in a non-reading mood. ;)

message 16: by Cathy (new)

Cathy Aaah, that was tough. I voted for Speak though The Book Thief is one of my all-time favourites, so I wouldn't mind having an excuse for a reread :)

message 17: by Brooke (new)

Brooke Bryan Voted, I had a hard time with this. There are so many great options.

message 18: by Sarah (new)

Sarah The Kitchen House by Kathleen Grissom and The Book Thief by Markus Zusak are two of some of my favorite reads this year. Both are awesome - but been there and done that.

message 19: by Beth (new)

Beth I liked Kitchen House a lot too but I won't be re-reading it.

message 20: by Sandra (new)

Sandra Heinzman Voted, but I already read the one that's winning :(. A lot of them look really good!

Same here too! It was originally published back in 2006. I'm surprised so many people here (over 140?!) still haven't gotten around to reading it yet.

message 22: by Beth (new)

Beth I'd never heard of it until it was chosen for one of my books clubs a few months ago but I just got around to starting it the other day because I was so behind on other books.

I was surprised at how many other people haven't read it yet! I may finally get around to it. I hope you try again Lynn. Hopefully, it was just a slump. I'll be so disappointed if it's one of those books that's all hype. The girl that originally recommended it to me is usually a good source for books for me. (She also recommended The Light Between Oceans to me, which I haven't gotten around to either.)

I can't wait to see what books win the polls and will be our other reads! There were so many good books in the choice awards polls too. I'm sure we'll be swamped with amazing reads in no time! Hopefully, some of the people that have already read the winner of this poll will be excited about the other BOMs. I feel like this group has at least one book that I'm excited about every month.

message 41: by Brenda (new)

Brenda Barrett The Book Thief is one of my favourite all time books. In fact my 15 year old son read it and we had great discussions. (he really doesn't read much). Saw the movie together and again, had a great debriefing session together.
