message 101: by TheGooch (new)

TheGooch I haven't read anything by Susan or Colette yet so this Is a great tie for me ;-)

message 102: by Cheri (new)

Cheri If you like the Last Call podcasts, you'll love Colette's books. I'll reach out to both to see if they'll do Q&As.

message 103: by TheGooch (new)

TheGooch I do! Colette is funny! :-D awesome!

Mmm. I like Cheddar and smoked Lancashire with fresh black pepper. Grilled not fried. Yum.

message 105: by TheGooch (new)

TheGooch Yum!

Another American food I want to try Thanks to Cari's book DP ;-) is a s'more :-) sounds so nice!

message 106: by Cari (new)

Cari Hunter S'mores are yum, but I think you'd struggle to find Graham crackers over here. They're sort of like a Rich Tea, only not. That kind of biccie though. I'm sure you could improvise an alternative.

message 107: by TheGooch (new)

TheGooch They sound it :-) I didn't think we had graham crackers over hear, Ill see what I can come up with ;-) thanks for the info

message 108: by Sunny (new)

Sunny There's nothing like s'mores around a campfire. Yum!

message 109: by TheGooch (new)

TheGooch I know I can get s'more pop tarts over hear :-) will have ta try them

message 110: by Nikki (new)

Nikki I finally show up, and it looks like I hold some POWER. Now what to do with this power. Do I make a 3-way tie and force everyone to read TOO MANY BOOKS?

Do I go for the underdog to aid in revenge against the twats?

Do I pick a top dog and end the tie?!?

message 111: by Katy (new)

Katy TOO LATE! Poll is ended. Sorry! *sigh* Was really hoping people who be interested in Hunted ... *pout*

LOL

message 112: by Cari (new)

Cari Hunter Or, you could just join us in a campfire s'more, Nikki and save your vote for next month (y'know, when it might actually count *g*)

message 113: by Nikki (new)

Nikki Sounds good to me!

Takes the pressure off!

message 114: by Cari (new)

Cari Hunter Ha! You were loving that pressure! ;-)

What would you have gone for? Just out of interest?

message 115: by Nikki (new)

Nikki Trick of the Dark

message 116: by Cari (new)

Cari Hunter I might read that one anyway, if it's in the library (I think Ferox is listening to it on audio at the mo.) But, in all honestly, I suspect July will be KARIN FUCKING SLAUGHTER month, for me at any rate :-)

message 117: by TheGooch (new)

TheGooch I ordered my signed copy of karin's new release from America, thanks to Sunny ;-) cost me a small fortune but well worth it if its personally signed to me :-D just have ta wait now.

message 118: by Cari (new)

Cari Hunter I'm so excited and I'm only getting an Asda bog-standard copy :-) We definitely need to do a buddy read for it.

message 119: by TheGooch (new)

TheGooch :-D hell yes! I'm up for that!

message 120: by SpritetheRight (new)

SpritetheRight I have never read anything by Karin Slaughter. What does she write?

message 121: by TheGooch (new)

TheGooch She maims a lot of her characters! It's mainly criminal, serial killer fiction books, she has two great series
one called the grant county and another is the will Trent series both are awesome!

message 122: by SpritetheRight (new)

SpritetheRight Maiming is good otherwise I would hate Cari's stuff.

message 123: by SpritetheRight (new)

SpritetheRight I am in. I just got the first one.

message 124: by TheGooch (new)

TheGooch Michelle wrote: "I am in. I just got the first one."

Sweet! You won't be dissapointed! And yes! Maiming is good ;-)

I got my s'mores pop tarts today! ;-) ill be trying them later

Cari Hunter Carrie wrote: "She maims a lot of her characters!...

Oh she certainly does. But she also writes really good characters and develops them to a fantastic degree over the two series (which eventually intertwine.) I prefer the later, Will Trent novels where Slaughter seems to have come into her own. Her plots aren't always the best (a lot of standard, very explicit and OTT murder stuff) but it's her lead cast that keep you coming back, and some of the things she's done with them are just mind-boggling.

As for S'more pop tarts. Words fail me.

message 127: by TheGooch (new)

TheGooch I prefer the will Trent ones to, :-) I love will!

And what's wrong with a s'more pop tart!? I had ta improvise because I couldn't get graham crackers, so I got the next best thing :-) lol
It's all your fault I had ta try a s'more! ;-D

message 128: by Sunny (new)

Sunny Carrie, please don't judge s'mores based on pop tarts! ;-)

message 129: by TheGooch (new)

TheGooch I won't! Lol but I can't get a proper one in England :-) lol

message 130: by SpritetheRight (new)

SpritetheRight My kids love graham cracker I buy them by the case.

message 131: by TheGooch (new)

TheGooch I can't get some :-( lol unless I order them on the Internet :-)

message 132: by Nikki (new)

Nikki England doesn't have GRAHAM CRACKER?!?!?

message 133: by TheGooch (new)

TheGooch No! I can't find any i even went to a American sweet shop, and all the had were the s'mores pop tarts ;-) so I had ta settle for that lol

message 134: by Nikki (new)

Nikki that is extremely sad.

message 135: by TheGooch (new)

TheGooch I no :-(

message 136: by Cari (new)

Cari Hunter We have a lot of biscuits that are very similar. The German Leibniz biccies would work well (not the chocolate ones, although they would probably be delicious!) Maybe we can have improvised S'mores at the hangout...

Will Trent is miles and away better than Jeffrey. He's not called Jeffrey for a start, and his dog cracks me up.

message 137: by TheGooch (new)

TheGooch I did improvise! Pop tarts! :-P lol

Betty! Haha she is so cute!

message 138: by Blu (new)

Blu -Jumping in very late-
This ex-colonial girl finds s'mores waaaaayyy too sweet!
If you're used to European chocolate (milky rather than sugary), consider using Cadbury's (NOT the bastardized Hershey's version).

I pretty much buy European choccies here or do without . . . .which is better for my personal geography ;-)
Has anyone tried drinking milk through a Peppermint Crisp?
Oh, my gosh! Nirvana!
