Hiding the results? D=

How cruel and entertaining.

I figure this way, people can't look at what is winning and what is losing.... so they have to vote based solely on what they wish to read.
And I was sure to randomize the order as well, to be fair.

By the way, I can see the results!

I agree with that, it'll keep things right. Plus it makes the results more fun.

I should be able to see the resuls since I'm a mod! :manmad:

Oh and I can totally edit the poll - so for a brief moment I could make the results viewable just to see what's been voted on and then turn it back. I win this round, Sir!

Mary We can only vote once, correct?

Edit: Note to Jamie concerning the August book thread, I can't reply there. I haven't read my nomination yet. So I really can't say if I'd object to the content. It would depend on how it's presented. I just like the movie and read good reviews of the book.

Yes, that's correct.

And you can post your questions, or thoughts about your selection in the Selection thread. I closed the August Thread so that if we get any late comers, they won't nominate a book late.

I don't want anyone to feel left out of the process.

It's been at 13 votes for a bit now... I'm wondering if anyone else is going to vote.

I want to give people Monday, since I'm sure a few are like me and only have limited time online on the weekends.

I think its good that you hid the results, makes it more about taste in books. Oh and thanks to Jamie for sending a reminder email to vote. Good thinking :)

It was in part to keep things fun, but also to try and get everyone to think a bit about what they want to read without worrying about what is winning.

So far, so good.

Well I wish I could say I spent time debating the list, but I didn't haha. There was a book on the list that I've been dying to read and of it wins it gives me a great excuse to buy it. I have simple joys heh

I actually changed my vote a couple times because there are some good looking books on that list. It was hard picking one. >.<

That's the good thing about book clubs though, plenty of chance to read all of them

And that's why I want to leave up the list of nominations on our bookshelf.

Even if we don't hit the book you want to win, it'll be up on the shelf as a reminder for whenever people have the time, or the means, to check it out.

Hey, it's the 27th, what's won?!

Oh, looks like the results are up and Name of the Wind won! It's a really awesome book too.... it's a shame I just read it a few months ago. I'll still try to be active in the discussion. Heck, I could give the book a reread.

Myself and a couple others in the group have read this and I'm pretty sure we all agree this book is awesome. It's Rothfuss' debut novel, but you wouldn't be able to tell. He really made an amazing story with a unique way of telling it. I can't wait to see what others think of the book.

Oh and while I'd like to see everyone vote, I am very happy about the number of people that did vote. 19 is pretty great for our first poll. I'm very pleased. =]
