It seems likely that I will have to buy another book doesn't it? I wonder how many people will vote in the end

Yes I kmow, I've done that beforeI can always reread Gaudy Night again if need be. Right now I'm reading Jill Paton Walsh 'The Late Scholar' the final Peter Wimsey book Although Walsh keeps Peter and Harriet 'alive' her writing is nowhere as scholarly as Sayers, her syntax is atrocious unfortunatly. Nevertheless, I am enjoying it
Glad you’re enjoying it, I know as a Sayers fan it’s not quite the same, but I enjoyed the continuation books - as you say, Walsh kept Peter and Harriet alive!
Amd the battery in my just over a tear old Kindle 11 is giving up, I have to charge it every few days now so I have to get another KindleAmazon offered me a credit to my Kindle account of 15% which only equals the amount of NZ tax added to prices on everything here- damn! My old PW1 (Kindle 5) is still as good as new but Amazon will no longer cover it so I'll have to get another anyway and I would be lost without my Kindle, I have a cataract operation due next week (all free through our national health system) and I can't read a 'real' book ay present, the font is too small
I couldn't get my Kindle to work this afternoon and was slightly afraid I would need another new one. I recently bought a new Fire for when my current one dies - now plugging in every three days. But I charged it and it appears to be okay - it is 4 years old.
I have the original Paperwhite 1 , the Kindle 5 which is still going strong although Kindle no longer recognise it, I have lent it to a friend while they save for a new oneI bought a Kindle 11 (PW5) in Nov 2021 but recently found the battery needed charging every few days, I contacted Amazon's customer service who said the battery is failing and offered me a refund of 20% against the cost of a new device which I have bought today, It is being charged as a I write.
I like the larger screen and the warm light which I can have on automaticlly in the evening as I read a lot then, it is more restful to my eyes than the cold bluer light of the earlier Kindles. Also the font is much clearer with 300ppj intead of the older 167ppi
No idea what model Kindles I have - but I am on my third one. I don't think the second lasted very long and I think they gave me a deal on this one. I'm also on my third Fire. I was apparently using my first one after the battery burned out and ceased to communicate with the mother planet. And because I have to charge every 3-4 days, I purchased my replacement early this time. Haven't used it too much yet - only if I've forgotten to plug in #2 or if I'm in my reading room and want to use it.
