Xan Oh, jeez! Mexican Gothic and Dowery of Blood…which one, which one?!

jamako Tough lineup... I think I'll go with Luminous Dead, haven't read a good scifi horror in a while.

message 4: by Holly (new)

Holly Horror Mexican Gothic or Dark Across the Bay

I happened to enjoy it. Please do not dissuade members in the polls just because you didn't "personally" like something. Everyone likes different styles.

Vampfiction I own it and I want to read it!

message 9: by Daniel (new)

Daniel Gessel I recently joined goodreads and was sort of blown away by the mix of ratings; it seems both 5 star and 1 star reviews can be found for every book. I can only agree with one of them so the other must be wrong! :)

message 10: by Joss (new)

Joss Riley I accidentally voted for the Luminous Dead, but it sounds good. I'll join in and try to read whatever is selected. I think I have Mexican Gothic in my library already.

You can change your vote anytime before the poll ends, if you'd like. Click on the "change your vote" under the list of books. :)

Austrian Spencer I've actually had Mexican Gothic Hardback since Christmas 2020, I got it as a present, so I'm rooting for that so I can get rid of my guilt!

I loved Mexican Gothic.

message 14: by Jamie (new)

Jamie I really enjoyed Mexican Gothic. I always love horror that has social, political, or economical commentary. Always what makes or breaks a good horror novel for me is if it brings up social anxieties or historical conflicts.

message 15: by Sherry (new)

Sherry Cackle.

And I loved Mecican gothic. It is true to form.

message 16: by Ahana (last edited Jan 21, 2022 07:45AM) (new)

Ahana I see that the first pick is sealed (more or less) but the battle for the second pick literally has me on the edge of my seat....I swear it changes like, everyday!

message 17: by Sally (new)

Sally I really enjoyed Mexican Gothic, looking forward to whatever comes in 2nd.

message 18: by JasonA (new)

JasonA Been putting off reading Mexican Gothic for awhile, so guess that's my vote. Luminous Dead was kind of annoying, so don't care to re-read that one. I really liked Cackle, but it's more of a fantasy witch than a horror witch.
