message 411: by mina (new)

mina Lord of the Flies is arguably my favorite book of all time, and the only novel with passages I could recite word-for-word.

The only books I absolutely hated were A Tale of Two Cities (really anything by Dickens) and The Odyssey.

I couldnt get through a tale of two cities. That book nearly was the death of my love for classics. You can't beat a Christmas carol though. Love that story!

message 414: by District2tribute (new)

District2tribute Taggerung did you know that wicked was based on a book

Taggerung District2tribute wrote: "Taggerung did you know that wicked was based on a book"

No! Huh, I'll have to see if I can find it. I've yet to see Wicked, so it'd be interesting to read the book first.

message 419: by Taggerung (new)

Taggerung Hahaha, pretty soon I think CDs will be as out of date as the VHS. :P but it'd definitely be worth looking up. :)

Holly The Odyssey, Madame Bovary, The Kite Runner, and Frankenstein. I disliked reading The Lord of the Flies and Beowulf, but not nearly as much as those previously stated. My classes did not require most of those listed, though I would have much preferred them.

Carly (Lis les Livres) Jane Eyre, The Once and Future King

message 428: by Cat (new)

Cat The Traveler's Gift by Andy Andrews

message 429: by Erin (new)

Erin Sprite Downberry by Nette Hilton. If there was ever a book not to read, it would be this one.
It was fairly torturous when I read it in year 7. I managed to not finish it and also write a failed essay on it as well.

message 443: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer The Sun Also Rises - Hemingway. Ugh. Can I get an adjective and a compound sentence, please?

message 444: by Angela (new)

Angela The Knight's Tale by Chaucer - we spent 6 months translating it!

message 445: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Angela wrote: "The Knight's Tale by Chaucer - we spent 6 months translating it!"

Oh no! Tedious translation for six moths could ruin a much better tale!

message 446: by Nikki (new)

Nikki I really didn't like The Great Gatsby. There was something about it that made it the only book that I have ever resorted to skimming and reading online synopses.

I also didn't like I am the Cheese.

I found it very confusing and hard to follow at the time. I also hated the teacher that assigned it, so that could have something to do with it too.

message 447: by Brittany (new)

Brittany The Sound and the Fury by William Faulkner
