Ashleigh Motbey Good luck with this one, everyone! I will not be participating, because I have traumatising memories from trying to get through this and once was enough. I might suggest if you can get your hands on the abridged version, do so. I didn't know this existed until after I read it!

SarahKat All 55 of you who voted for this behemoth better be actively taking part in the discussion! 😜

My library has an audio version. It says unabridged but it's only 6 hours long. Can that be right?

Shareen Ghabrial So is that officially the February book (Les Miserables)? I might use that month to catch up on January's reads, if it is a chunker.

Tan T. Ra Khan Wow, two months in a row on getting the books I've got on my pile of to-be-read that I thought would be growing. Must say I'm pleased to have joined this group in changing things up for 2020.

Nope! The unabridged version on audible.com is 58 hours. Abridged version is over 12 hours. Maybe that library copy is volume 1?

OMG Nightmares from High School (LOL)
However, it is a classic and (all jokes aside) I hope everyone enjoys reading and discussing this book

My unabridged audio book is 57 hours long! Listened to this last year (was going to read until I realised it's longer than War and Peace!). It's a great book, but you have my permission to skip the 55 pages when Hugo, bless him, attempts to recreate the whole of the Battle of Waterloo. I won't be reading along - once in a lifetime was enough - but I'm seeing the musical again soon!
