Answers my question. They should have had a warrant. Why does our zip code and out black skin makes police think it is OK to criminalized us and treat us and even worse our children inhumane. The law enforcement paid, elected, and sworn to protect us. At the very least we should be treated with human decency.

I mean if they were in the area and he had the knife out the DNA would match but that does not mean he Killed Masey. Perhaps he was poking around the area. Again not right but that does not make them the killer. Plus it makes sense that their clothing and shoes match DNA evidence from the scene they admitted they would cut across the field which they would have collect DNA. However, what about other evidence? Are there marks, cuts, abrasions on any of the boys? Were the clothes, or shoes bloody, torn, burnt. There would certainly have to be damage to the articles of clothing as the autopsy reported the brutal way Masey died. Was there DNA on the knife?

I was just thinking out loud. I didn’t feel like explaining. “Are you saying they illegally searched the house?” “I’m saying it was a trap,” she said. “They took advantage of the situation, arresting the father and the older boy as a way to get around the fact they didn’t have a warrant. They found a kitchen knife under the boy’s bed, took it and ran with it.”

I can explain. What I noted earlier. And it is obviously on display here. The police want to pin it on them, arrest them, and close this "bothersome" case. Why should they care to do a proper investigation when they were able to easily charge these children and contruct a false narrative. They can close this case and don't spend more time or resoueces on this case involving a murdered black child in the Englewood /southside area. According to them it is waste of their time to look outside the convenient arrest. Furthermore they have the thought why care? These people dont care about themselves or their community in this crime stricten area. There is so much crime and other murders what is one more unsolved crime? But since the media is involved and the community is watching lets just make a quick arrest of anyone even innocent children and destroy their lives just to day we made an arrest and move on.

I have made some bad decisions growing up and thankfully even as black woman in Chicago I was able not to be arrested for them. Even adults receive grace. Even adult criminals but most black young men especially in inner city neighborhoods do not receive grave. They are guilty until proven innocent and even when proved innocent still treated ad guilty. Make it make sense.

And now one bad decision could become the sum of his life, assigning him a label that allowed the police officers who came to his home to judge him and his stepfather, a journeyman carpenter and a deacon at his church.
Q. Ida (Editor in Chief )
Damn it these boys are victimized, traumatized, blamed for murder unjustly, and do not get the physiological, emotional, and even physical help they need. And just basic protection as a child. Instead they are further traumatized. I'm sure the police will try to tack on this child's horrible assault on to this is the reason why the attack on Masy was cruel and brutal. As opposed to doing real police work and getting this child the help he needs. The CPD are the real criminals and this is downright cruel.

Food answer honest and still professional and showing the humanity of it all. Sad but true our black women/girl victims are not provided the same sense of urgency as non black victims as demonstrated in this very case. Her mom was shrugged off when she reported her child missing. The police even directly told her with no ambiguity that Masey was likely a run away before even listening to the details of the case. So unfortunately this very policing makes it aboit race and I think one would be less than honest not to recognize this may be a bit more personal when they are a black woman reporting of the murder of a black female child. That does not mean Jordan can not remain professional. She can do her job with excellence, ethically with respect to finding justice for beautiful Masey, her family, friends and community.

One of my pet peeves is something my colleagues and I have talked about many times. This is the perception by the police and others, including our newsroom colleagues, that Black reporters are incapable of reporting on what’s happening in our community without bias. We instantly become part of the story if the suspects or victims are Black.
