“I want people to know who my daughter was. But let me be clear,” she said, stabbing the table with her forefinger. “I. Want. Her. Killer.”
Pamela and I had talked about the last time she’d seen Masey at the coffee shop, but we’d never had the conversation on-camera. I should have prepped her. I should have explained to her that some of the questions I would be asking were about situations the two of us had talked about previously but were unknown to viewers. Expecting Pam, in her current state, to account for that was a rookie mistake. If I hadn’t been so lost in memories of my own trauma,
“Why do our kids always have to be runaways? Huh? Unparented and misguided? Neglected and unloved? The police instantly go there. She was fifteen years old! She was a straight-A student invited to attend a prestigious STEM school! How did she accomplish that without a loving family to support her?”
“Evergreen
The "Everblack" as we call it lol. I didn't catch the time stamp of this story. is it the 90s or 2000s? Because now the Plaza is an outdoor mall rebuilt and redevelopment. it used to be an indoor mall previously. The anchor store was Carson Pierie Scott before they closed. Great memories going there as a teen in the 90s.
The new information about the mall threw me. If Pam could pick up Malcolm from Cynthia’s after work, couldn’t she have grabbed Masey from Yvonne’s place after she got back from the mall? “Did Masey ride home on her bicycle that night? Or did Yvonne give her a ride home because it was getting dark, as you’d requested?”
Scott shot me a look but didn’t say a word. The day had been marked by an unusual level of tension between us. But when you spend as much time together as Scott and I do, you’re bound to have some off days.
I can imagine it is like a relationship with ups, downs, good and bad. But the earlier teens remark standing on the bus stop was his doing.
I had a little over an hour to kill before Tanya’s, and I knew exactly how to spend it. Pamela had said that Yvonne’s house was pretty much a straight shot from hers at 82nd Street and
Reminds me of the story back in the 90s/early 2000s of the little girl that was killed in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood and her father was charged for the murder. He was the main person crying and on the news asking for the "abducters" (before her body was found) to bring his daughter back safe. She was much younger than Masey I think she was about 8.
Scott: The piece turned out really nice. Congrats!
Haha right. T least he could have shot her a text or answered his phone to let her now he was not going to be able to shoot. He could not be salty about the bus stop exchange and/or not being able to come in when Jordan first wrnt to speak with Louise. If so he is petty and I didn't think he would be like that. I do understand he was pulled off work but a professional courtesy is not too much to offer.
prodigious
prodigious /prəˈdijəs/ I. adjective 1. remarkably or impressively great in extent, size, or degree • the stove consumed a prodigious amount of fuel. 2. ‹archaic› unnatural or abnormal • rumors of prodigious happenings, such as monstrous births. II. derivatives 1. prodigiously /prəˈdijəslē prōˈdijəslē / adverb 2. prodigiousness /prəˈdijəsnəs
I also feel like Pamela may not have known her daughter as well as she thought. She might’ve fit in a lot better at that party than her mother realized. Does anyone really know their child? I can think of at least six things I did around that age my mother will never know about.”
Yeah for sure. I don't even want to know the things my son may do unbeknownst to me. I just do my best to let him know that he does not have to hide anything from me. I may not be happy with his decision bit I will not disown him as long as he is not doing something wrong or harming himself or others. I just pray my raising and guidance can be in the forefront when he is making decisions and do things to keep himself safe.
“This is from 2003. Hundreds of rape kits from poor communities in suburban Cook County were never processed!”
OK so we are not in the 90s lol But stull can be in the early 2000s. I don't remember hearing any mention of social media. I know FB was not a thing until like 2008/2009. MySpace was out before then. I didn't get into MySpace.
MySpace page
There we have it it has to be anywhere from 2003 to about 2008/2009 whe Ln FB was created. I don't think it was 2003 because when April and Jordan was talking in the Cafe before Pam arrived April mentioned some cases that were mishandled in 2003. So it seems they would at least be in 2004. So I'm thinking more 2006 to 2008/2009 because it seems like 2 to 3 years should have passed before they would be disgusted about mishandled cases in 2003. And Jordan still listens to TLC Scrubs released in 1999 because that her jam. I still have things in regular rotation. And MP3 players and downloaded music was not really a thing then. we were still burning musics to CDs then lol.
Yvonne
Hmmm interesting especially since I have that off feeling about Manny & it is interesting Yvonne was the last to see Masey, and why didn't she dropped her off at home after the mall? Or maybe she did like Jordan mentioned earlier and Masey left. Was Yvonne jealous of Masey, did the get in an argument and it went awry? Something about Yvonne is sus.
moment, and not the same moment that Pam was experiencing. Tears streamed down Yvonne’s face. “I’m sorry . . . Pam,” Yvonne said. “I loved her so much. You know I did.”
