Well, I usually don't.

If I only wrote when I felt inspired to write, my book wouldn't exist. With a full-time mentally intense job I don't usually have the time or the energy to get inspired, so I simply use the approach from Steven Pressfield's "Turning Pro." I've had to teach myself to treat art with the seriousness I afford to my job: I show up regularly, I am committed over the long haul, the stakes for me are high and real.

So I simply start writing, and sometimes, when I get into the flow, I can get inspired. Sometimes I don't, and I just write the best prose I can. I play hurt.

"We’re all nothing without the Muse. But the pro has learned that the goddess prizes labor and dedication beyond any theatrical seeking of her favors. The professional does not wait for inspiration; he acts in anticipation of it. He knows that when the Muse sees his butt in the chair, she will deliver." Steven Pressfield(less)

Jordan B. Peterson
“Compare yourself to who you were yesterday, not to who someone else is today.”
Jordan B. Peterson, 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos

Steven Pressfield
“Are you paralyzed with fear? That’s a good sign. Fear is good. Like self-doubt, fear is an indicator. Fear tells us what we have to do. Remember one rule of thumb: the more scared we are of a work or calling, the more sure we can be that we have to do it.”
Steven Pressfield, The War of Art

Ben Shapiro
“Facts don't care about your feelings.”
Ben Shapiro

Jonah Goldberg
“If there is ever a fascist takeover in America, it will come not in the form of storm troopers kicking down doors but with lawyers and social workers saying. "I'm from the government and I'm here to help.”
Jonah Goldberg, Liberal Fascism: The Secret History of the American Left from Mussolini to the Politics of Meaning

Winston S. Churchill
“We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender, and even if, which I do not for a moment believe, this Island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our Empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the British Fleet, would carry on the struggle, until, in God's good time, the New World, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the old.”
Winston S. Churchill, The Second World War: Alone
