He joked that hormones must cause superpowers, and I joked back that if they do, menopausal women would have the corner on that market!

And, YES! The sequel is in edits right now, with a planned release of April 20, 2016. Change of Life picks up a few months after the end of the first book, with Jessica and Leonel having joined a super-secret underground group called The Department and Patricia on a woman-hunt for Cindy Liu. (less)

Beyond that, I'm trying to leave myself open to serendipity. While I love my books clubs because of the camaraderie and discussions, and because, with a sense of deadline I *make* time to read even when I'm very busy, I also like just picking what appeals to me on any given day.

Just another month or so of school, then I'm on that lovely summer break schedule with much more time for reading!(less)

Theme Reveal: Blogging AtoZ

March snuck up on me, y'all. So, I missed the official theme reveal for Blogging AtoZ, so I'm joining in a little late. If you're not familiar with this blog hop, the idea is that you choose a theme and post 26 times in April (every day but Sundays), which gives you one post per letter. Some of the best bit is going around and seeing what everyone else is up to!

The team theme this year is “As

Not Too Late by Samantha Bryant
"This was short and sweet, with surface level characters. There was no conflict so it felt pretty basic. I appreciated that they were older adults who were finding love while dealing with aging parents.

2.5 stars, rounded up.

"Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

Not Too Late receives a solid 2.5 ⭐️ from me. I chose the book, as I am just short of Gen X and thought it might be fun. However, I didn’t relate at all.

Mandy and Turbo were not appealing to me" Read more of this review »

This is a reread for me. I’ve always appreciated this one is sort of a boots on the ground perspective of war, especially in the days before technology made it easy to communicate across wide spaces.

It may be a sign that I read too much sensational speculative literature, that I kept expecting this novel to take a dark and sinister turn. For Gilbert Osmond to kill Isabel Archer by sinking her boat, a la Daphne DuMaurier’s Rebecca. For Isabel or ...more

What an interesting premise! What if the kind of lore that makes a slasher in a movie played out in real life and a boy facing trauma is transformed into a slasher? What if that story was shaped around a deep friendship? Well, then you'd have this: a ...more

“Sometimes, Helen felt like she had spent her whole life waiting to be “old enough” and then had crossed over into “too old” without finding out what it was she had been waiting for. It was only now, with the tingle of fire still on her fingertips and the smell of sulphur on her skin, that she felt she knew what she wanted.”
