It’s set in a speculative future. The audiobook was awarded Best New Author 2020.

With the release of The Status Game II, I decided to take a hard look at audiobooks for both of them. I'm registered with ACX and created a few test recordings. They have very specific requirements for room tone, compression, dropoff, etc. Though my studio for podcasts is more than sufficient for podcasting, I don't have the sound-booth quality of silence needed for a proper audiobook.

And, although it is a fun read and I can narrate the book in the proper snarky but helpful tone, alas unless my facilities change it may be a job for someone else.(less)

I always wa…moreWell, let's define what that is. I think most people think your brain just shuts down and doesn't want to write. That never happens to me. I always want to write about something. I went through a period where I was working on four writing projects at once, so I would switch back and forth. that switching uses a lot of energy. So now I focus on one until it is done. Since I've done that, I experience something like writer's block - I know I need to write more but am not sure if I want to go a certain direction. I find that in the end it's because I'm focusing on the wrong part of the story. So I re-read it and feel for the missing piece. That and martinis. Lots of martinis. No, just kidding.


PS - The writing group I used to be a part of was called "Writers Bloc." Ha!(less)
