Alabaster
by
"Does Alabaster actually have an angel following her? Or is she just a murderer? Tonally much darker than Supernatural but if you enjoy outsider PoV fic that starts with the Winchesters being murderers, this might be the character for you. "

The Archive of the Forgotten (Hell's Library, #2)
by
"Ramiel bears a passing resemblance to another angel, but he at least doesn't get sent to super-hell, just regular hell where the rest of the found family lives (including love interest) in the library and archives there. Second book but if you want to skip to the good bit with the love interest and found family, this is the book for you. "

Ironside (Modern Faerie Tales, #3)
by
"Third in a trilogy, so you should read the others first, but this is where the gay payoff happens. The series as a whole is more female-focused but Holly Black does good faerie folklore based stories. "

Murder Mysteries

"Gay angels (inasmuch as Gaiman's neuter but present as male-ish can), avenging angels and murder? Tonally outmatches Supernatural "

Cemetery Boys (Cemetery Boys, #1)
by
"Queerness, death, the wide and varied and combined different Latinx beliefs and cultures, and family issues. Much happier than SPN (and a lot of my recs) but a good choice if you'd like a 'what about hunters from other cultures?' type of story."

The Witch Boy (The Witch Boy, #1)
by
"Reclusive families bound up in supernatural tradition and magic. The queerness is more about not fitting in gender norms (and general no fitting in) but squint and you'll find some. "

A Dead Djinn in Cairo (Dead Djinn Universe, #0.1)
by
"In an alternate 1912 where a cleric opened up a portal that let through djinn and beings that call themselves angels, Fatma el-Sha’arawi is a special investigator tasked with solving crimes relating to these supernatural beings. Badass with a penchant for British suits, she stops the world from ending and also gains a girlfriend in this novella. "

"Look, everyone knows that SPN cribbed bits from Neil Gaiman in the early series. You might as well read the ones which have gay angels in them."
