Exit West
by
"I read this for a grad-level World Contemporary Literature class and was blown away by Hamid's writing. He crafts a beautiful story with themes of freedom, magical-realism, war, and realistic relationships. It is absolutely astounding."

Depression & Other Magic Tricks
by
"Initially, I was drawn to Benaim's poem about depression and the conversation with her mother, because it was the same conversation I've had to have with my dad since my mom passed, but her entire collection is beautiful -- it reminds those of us who are suffering that we are not alone."

in the absence of the sun

"Emily Curtis weaves beautiful words together in her poetry -- the book I own is tabbed up as much as it can be, and I plan to use her book to promote literacy in my community through a project in one of my grad classes. "

A Conjuring of Light (Shades of Magic, #3)
by
"The ADSoM series is absolutely astounding. I found a character in them that I never knew I needed until she popped up into my life, and within all three of the novels, there are such complex characters and storylines built that I've seen MANY other authors fail at doing in a trilogy. Somehow, magically perhaps, Schwab weaves all of these worlds and characters together in a way that I don't think anyone can top."

Howl’s Moving Castle (Howl’s Moving Castle, #1)
by
"The most magical book I've ever read. Never again will we have a writer who crafts her stories like Jones did, and I mourn her passing, but I thank her for the stories she left us with that remind us to believe in fairy tales. "

Crooked Kingdom (Six of Crows, #2)
by
"I kind of want to die because of the end, but the adventure continues here to right the wrongs done to the Dregs in Six of Crows. Abilities are revealed, character growth in this is astounding, and it leaves you wanting more, but understanding why it was left where it was."

Six of Crows (Six of Crows, #1)
by
"KAZ BREKKER -- no I'm just kidding, but he is one reason. This is such a well crafted story that includes magic, heists, high stakes, and gangs in a city based off of Amsterdam. Each character has a thorough background, is equally interesting, and by the end of the book you're grabbing for Crooked Kingdom because you love them all so much."

Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch
by
"One of the funniest books I've ever read in my entire life. Pratchett and Gaiman deserve all the praise for this novel, which parodies angels, demons, witches, and a number of other supernatural creatures in such a way that is almost poetic. You won't regret reading it."

The Ferryman Institute
by
"Another hidden treasure. If I'm not mistaken, this is Gigl's first book, and it combines almost every religion's god of the dead. It's funny, it tackles serious mental illness issues, but warms your heart at the same time. An adventure ensues that leaves you on the edge of your seat, hoping that the main characters will come out on the good end of things. "

Mischling
by
"I studied the holocaust and Dr. Josef Mengele for a long time for a historical-fiction novel I wanted to write; I ended up scrapping it because it is not my place to write it, but Konar has written a novel here that is worthy of more praise than it is getting. She knows what she's talking about. She did the same research I did, and just reading it leaves such an eerie feeling."

Berserk

"A hidden treasure. I stumbled upon this book on accident, and it turned out to be one of the best horror novels I've ever read. My copy is so tattered from years of wear and tear and shoving it at my friends to read. I think more people need to pick this up."
