O Ano da Morte de Ricardo Reis
by
"It's simply amazing. I fell in love with Saramago through this book's explendit story, I redescovered my love for Pessoa and most of all Ricardo Reis through it and I've been a completely different person ever since. It really changes one's life..."

Memoirs of Hadrian
by
"It was the first book I read from Marguerite Yourcenar. A friend of mine recommended it and I was told that it was an extraodinary journey to the traditions and ways of thinking of Ancient Rome - a historical period that I'm completely fascinated about. So I picked it up and started reading it with some skepticism, since I knew it was fiction... God, was I mistaken? This emperor named Hadrian becomes so real to us, even though we know he's just another fictional character, that we can actually believe he's this person we see and talk to everyday. And, in the end, when we part, when we let him go because the book is over, there's a whole in our hearts and lives that can only be filled by re-reading it. It's a total addiction. Who cares if it's real or not? The story is delicious and there's an extreme beauty in the romance he develops with this young boy... Attention: there will be tears in your eyes!"
