The Girl of Fire and Thorns (Fire and Thorns, #1)
by
"Every 100 years someone is born with a Godstone: a bright gem, buried in their stomachs, that directly links them to God's will--let's them know if something bad is happening, if they're making the right decisions, etc. It also guarantees they will perform a great act of service, though no one knows what it will be until it happens. Princess Elisa is the chosen one. She's also the fat one, the younger princess, and though she's a faithful student of god, she isn't as clever as her older sister. Her father marries her off to a king with a country in turmoil, securing an alliance and thrusting his daughter into unknown dangers. Because her marriage isn't as it seems, and everyone she's ever met has lied to her about what the Godstone really is."

A Brief History of Montmaray
by
"A tiny island kingdom off the coast of France and Spain is isolated from the violence of WWII, and happy to keep it that way. When Sophie gets a journal for her 16th birthday, she begins to chronicle her life on the small island. With a population of 10--half of which is Montmaray's royal family--they have nothing to offer to an alliance and are left alone by the world at large. Their contact with the outside world is the captain who sails in the supplies they need to survive every month. Until one day, two Nazis land on their island. "

Locke & Key, Vol. 1: Welcome to Lovecraft
by
"A finished comic series, perfect for binge reading. Three siblings survive a violent home invasion committed by one of their classmates over summer vacation, and to help everyone feel safe again, their mother moves the family all the way across the country to Lovecraft, Massachusetts and their father's family home. But Keyhouse isn't what their father told them to expect. Before long, they begin finding keys--keys that can open a door to anywhere (Paris, Antarctica, the Moon), keys that can turn you into an animal, or a ghost. As the kids discover secrets to the power of Keyhouse, they learn there are doors that should never be opened. "

Etiquette & Espionage (Finishing School, #1)
by
"This Victorian era steampunk series is ridiculous and fantastic-a book with characters named Barnaclegoose and Bumbersnoot can't be taken too seriously. Sophronia is the youngest in her family, and not at all a lady. Her mother sends her off to a finishing school in the hopes she can attain some polish before her sister's come-out ball and not shame the whole family, not knowing that this finishing school teaches girls how to finishanything. Namely, people. It's one thing to earn how the perfect curtsy. It's another to learn how to curtsy and throw a knife at the same time. Welcome to Finishing School."
