The Ruins of Gorlan (Ranger's Apprentice, #1)
by
"The Ranger's Apprentice series is a)written by an Aussie, b)consistently good and c)a blast with its subtlety, humour and all around goodness. Much like the previous novels as to why I love it."

The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking, #1)
by
"Easily one of the most unique YA trilogies. The writing might drive you away but it is quality in how it is disjointed purposefully and the narrative is internally consistent. It is definitely a more mature work of YA fiction."
Jonathan
rated it 5 stars

"Garth Nix is an inventive author and this is one crazy and inventive YA series. The ending is odd but the entire series is strong enough to withstand it."

The Bad Beginning (A Series of Unfortunate Events, #1)
by
"Who wants to read a book with a 'bad beginning' for a series? I did. It's snarky, tragic and full of interesting subtle wordplay. The series is repetitive though."
