Not being American, I've added some books I'm not sure you would consider to be in/about 'the deep south'. The few titles I've added are by William Faulkner and Toni Morrison. Please, feel free to delete the added titles if they don't belong on this list, because as I said, I'm not American :-)
Faulkner, definitely yes. A native of Mississippi, writing fiction set there.Toni Morrison was born in Ohio, so I'd say 'no.'

I added Paradise and The Bluest Eye but it has been years since I read them, which is part of the reason why I wasn't altogether sure about those two. I didn't add Song of Solomon, although I own a copy, as I haven't read it yet, so I have no idea about this one.
Would you like me to remove Paradise and The Bluest Eye?
