I loved the Kerrigan Byrne books. Its a series of three novellas, so they are quick reads.

The Karen Marie Moning book can be read as a standalone and it was really good. Otherwise my other favorite is the Kresley Cole; however, it is deep into that series and while you dont necessarily have to read the rest of the series, I would suggest it.. Or at least the one before this one (Book 10). If you like Adventure, violance and action you'd likely love the Kresley Cole Immortals After Dark series. =)
