if these main characters were real people, they’d get called problematic all the time. these are realistic, flawed characters who possess a multitude of contradictory characteristics. at times, you’ll love them; at other times, you’ll hate them.
so, this ISN’T a list for characters who would likely be convicted of serious crimes if they were real (i.e. no Humbert Humbert from Lolita) – it is for characters who are flawed, unlikable at times, but you still find yourself rooting for them.
