Ashley Marie The Hunger Games trilogy? Really? Also, can the Hobbit get bumped off now that it's down to #58?

Your point is a strong one; I didn't note The Hunger Games at first because I haven't read it. But according to Goodreads's data, 0 people have shelved this title as a thriller or as anything in the related tag list below the list. With a position at #8 and 176 votes, however, I feel I should ask the list's users whether they object to seeing this title removed.

Anyone want to defend Hunger Games on the list?

I will wait a few days and see what happens.

Yes, I will take The Hobbit, a book I know intimately and love and also know that, however thrilling it is not a thriller, from the list now:

Donna Davis From page 2, out of genre, This Little Piggy Belongs to the Devil:
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...

Also from page 2, out of genre: Blood Feather Awakens: A Time of Rebirth https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...

This title has never been shelved by anybody as anything, which makes me wonder how it got onto page 2; sock puppets perhaps? But its few reviewers call it adventure, sci fi, and romance. Nobody is calling it a thriller, and now it's gone.

Also out of genre, page 3: Invisible Monsters Remix
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...

From page 4, nonfiction removed, Lone Survivor...Operation Redwing
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/7...

page 4 fantasy title removed, The Night Circus

And from page 5, come on now folks...Dracula?

Donna Davis There are no doubt more titles that can come down, but I am out of time for today. Open-ended listopia, which I regard as a huge win for the First Amendment, are now monitored entirely by volunteers like me. If you have experience in education, library science, a bookstore or even just a BA and would like to be able to clean up listopia, consider applying.

One more reminder that The Hunger Games trilogy is coming down if nobody defends it.

If you see a title that you believe is out of genre, particularly if it's nonfiction, please post not only the title but the book # or page # where you've found it. With a long list such as this one, most volunteers will not comb through 20+ pages to search for a title. but if we know where it is (Thank you, Ashley Hufflepuff), we will cheerfully check it out.

One more time (see directly above your comment)...if you see a title that you clearly believe is out of genre, give me a page number. These lists are edited by volunteer librarians. If the title is plainly out of genre--as opposed to a thriller you do not prefer--I will remove it IF I know where it is. I won't comb the whole list looking for it.

Chris Gager There are plenty of books on the list that are to varying degrees not much into the thriller mode. I'm not exited about it one way or the other. The only reason I do these is because a friend invites me to. Otherwise I wouldn't bother. What's the big deal???? Am I not allowed to make a comment????

☕ Lachgas ♿ any suggestions which ones are not thrillers?
if please provide title, page and the # of the book so it's possible to find and delete it.
I deleted already a few non thrillers and system removed 4 duplicates.

Anytime you remove a book from a list, you need to document it by leaving the title of the book and a link to same in this space.

Uhh. Any book? From any list? Says who, and on what authority, in what context and where did they say that?

I remove hundreds of books from two specific lists every single time I edit them. They are absolutely clearly against the list rules and unquestionably should be removed. And they're recorded in the listopia log for anyone to see, if they want to flag or question it, that ought to be sufficient.

I do not think that is a "must do".
You may want to tell the list maker you're going to delete.
even in the listopia thread others spoke of "may".
Although it's pretty nice you do that that way I do not think librarians are obliged to to do that.
I'm sure the manual would state that clearly if that is an obligation.

But I know I've removed two "Hunger Games" books - clearly no thriller - great books which I enjoyed reading, but no thriller at all.
And a Amanda Quick book - I've read books of her once and it was way far from thriller (and obviously nobody shelved it as that too because it's just romance)

I did some removing on lists based on years too (and am a bit surprised how many books are on there with just a pub year totally off) so I don't recall every title.
But I'm totally aware of the fact that we have to be super careful with removing books so I didn't remove something I wasn't 100% sure. (and yes, I'm reading mostly thriller so I'm not a stranger to that genre)

And know I'll keep on wondering why I didn't get an info mail for new posts - although it's checked and i got others.

Suzanne Seddon Thank you Donna for your help. I have deleted the comment. I really thought I was educated on social media sites. But apparently not! All I know, is when I joined Goodreads I had a full head of hair!!!
Thanks again

Nab Fransis Holy crap: yoga time! Is classic yoga a part of civilized life? Who says “Yes”? No! This sort of yoga is not on the side of The Good. Even more: original yoga is something sponsored by The Devil itself. Am I missing something? Even our domestic yoga gym exercises could harm unprotected soul, but what about the things shown in “Yoga Time” comics? Just to be touched by someone, that kind of knowledge could push a weak spirit into a hole of dark power.
Alex Letner, the author.
His graphics? They are appropriately explicit and too much naturalistic, which is not good. Human bodies are shown unnecessary sculptural and full of ugly motion.
Hell, his humor! His humor is charged with harmful power, no respect to no one, to nothing. There is a little to laugh in there but plenty of motives to cry.
I do nor recommend this “art” to anybody. This story is not a good read. Be careful, do not open this Jumanjy.

Did you intend to post this as a review? This is the technical thread.

message 68: by Greg (new)

Greg Here is the problem with classifying fiction books: the reason we turn pages is we want to know what is going on, therefore, every novel, in a way, is a mystery. If a novel isn't a mystery, then it's non-fiction.

message 69: by Paul (new)

Paul VanKempen Surely the link for #9 is an error and should be The Firm by John Grisham (original bestseller), not The Firm by Robin Waterfield (76 page adaptation for younger readers)?
