This was a good book, but it frustrated me because the protagonist didn't theorize that it was the parents fault for all the chaos and tragedy in the Lisbon family. He kept referring to genetics, or seeing the suicides as an example of what was happening to and in society. To me, it seemed very clear that it was the parents who were to blame for these tragedies. Cuando una novela tan breve como esta no engancha... algo pasa. Si, técnicamente está muy bien. Si, la historia llega a ser cautivadora. Si, las hermanas Lisbon son personajes llamativos. Pero no termina de encajar, cuesta engancharse, no entras en la novela... Fría, descarnada, desapasionada.

This was ok. Not nearly as good as Middlesex. But a calm, melancholy story that is a quick read. I enjoyed it while I was reading it. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it though the images are well drawn. The movie is very loyal to the book, but like the book, doesn't leave you thinking.
