So I'm a bit late to the party on this one. I've had it sitting on my shelf for a couple years, saving it for a day when I needed a really good book. But with the movie coming out I decided I'd better read it before the movie ruins it.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book despite it not being my favorite genre. A fellow bookie told us about the series at our Athen's Book Club, and all of my grandkids have talked about it so I decided to give it a try. It reminded me of the Hunger Games series; same genre but with a different twist that I liked. This book reminded me of a cross between The Hunger Games and Uglies. It seems to be directed at a younger "young adult" audience.

I really liked the concept. Really liked all of the characters. Looking forward to reading Insurgent
A compelling storyline that grabbed me up quickly. The setting is stark, and yet in some ways almost "normal", human emotions are strained but intact, at least for some, and all of them are present, greed, avarice, kindness, selflessness. I look forward to reading Insurgent.
