Jenny Lawson is amazing. While I liked her first book, Let's Pretend This Never Happened: A Mostly True Memoir more than this second offering, that is not a dig at Furiously Happy: A Funny Book About Horrible Things. Jenny's first book is a tough act to follow! I'll be the first to say that my expectations were high, and I occasionally felt like some bits of the new book were her "B list" material, but those moments were soon eclipsed by moments of hilarity, absurdity and touching honesty about ...more

I was expecting this book to be really funny. Although, there were a few times I did laugh, they weren't many. I did enjoy the part about ladies with pockets and purses. But, sometimes it felt like she was making some of this stuff up to get laughs that weren't there. The voice on the audio you have to get past at times cause it can get to be a little much.

She also wrote about carrying her dead taxidermy animals around with her. Strange, but if you have a disorder maybe it's okay.

4/5 - Many parts remind me of the early Jen Lancaster books - the tone is spot on! The interaction w/ the cats (even though Jen has dogs, cats but mainly speaks about the dogs) and the playful, back-and-forth banter between husband and wife also sent me back to those early Jen L. books... So if you liked her books, you might want to give Jenny Lawson a try if only for tone. But that is where the similiaries end.
