I FELL SO HARD IN LOVE WITH THIS BOOK!
No idea why I waited as long as I did to read this book, so please don’t ask. I fell in love with both Alex and Henry - such amazing, rich - as in a lot of depth, intelligent, funny, vulnerable, complex, wonderful characters.
This story was incredible. I devoured it and read it through to well past midnight so I could finish it all in one sitting. Yeah - I was tired at work on the 14th, but it was oh so worth it!

A fun and entertaining romcom but overrated considering the way it's raved about. A good example of the genre but I've read better.

Political romance at its best. The politics rang true. Would be wonderful if a romance like this were to happen in my lifetime.
I so very very desperately want an Alex and Henry in real life!
This book was so well written. It had utter laugh out loud moments.
The characters are rich, full of detail, and genuine feeling. The relationships are beautifully spun out. Character interaction and dialogue made this an absolutely fun read. And a fast one as well.
I can’t wait to see what is next from Ms. McQuiston.
Until then - I’m buying a copy of this book and rereading it weekly.

3.75 stars - Fabulous premise with moments of brilliance, but bogged down by a political plot which doesn't drive the protagonists, but book ends the love story, giving a slow start and anti-climatic ending. Together with a clunky third person POV of only one of the two lovers, telling, rather than showing giving a forgettable cast of secondary characters this book doesn't live up to it's potential.

I must confess I stole this off my daughters bookcase! As I often do. She has great taste in books. This is a lovely read and one I'd recommend. The characters are well drawn, the writing draws you into the romance between Henry, the royal prince and Alex the president's son. It's a slow burn to begin with as Alex grapples with dawning realisations about his sexuality which blossom with his growing fascination with Henry. It was cute - no third act breakup which always irks me in the end.
There was a couple times I was confused by who was talking and how the time jumps were working. I don’t like rereading repeatedly to figure that stuff out.
I also felt that June got a lot of the short end of the stick on things, and we just didn’t address it. (She really got stuck with the older sister stereotype- and I recognize the book was not fully about her, but we could’ve done better.)
