This book really surprised me, as I was unfamiliar with both the author and the book (that doesn't seem to happen too much these days). But I sank into it easily enough like it was an old familiar friend, often feeling that it was a little bit Tamora Pierce, or a little bit Sharon Shinn, or Maria V. Snyder, and yet, it's own thing at the same time.

"Sorcery of Thorns" by Margaret Rogerson is the book lovers dream fantasy novel. The book centers around a Librarian in training, Elisabeth, who grows up in a world where books are ALIVE (called grimoires) and Nathanial Thorn (sorcerer extraordinaire) who is bound to a totally fabulous demon, Silas. I don't want to say much, because there's a lot to give away, but if you love books, fantasy, a little romance, and a lot of magical and non-magical butt kicking I highly recommend reading this book.

Such a fun and satisfying standalone! Highly recommend!
I am so bummed. I really wanted to like this book but it was so hard to get into. I sort of rage read this then skimmed the rest. Too slow.
