Oh my goodness. The first two books I enjoyed but I wasn't blown away by them. And then this one comes along and I'm just floored. SJM's writing and pacing has improved so much from the first book. Characters like Dorian have developed so nicely. I adore the new characters of Aedion and Rowan. Manon's storyline was particularly fascinating to me as well. Wow this book was great--still kinda just reeling from that powerful ending. Overall, Heir of Fire does propel the story forward from where it left off--though the beginning felt a bit slow. It took me a couple of reads to really get into it. I was about 100 pages in when I could feel myself getting lost in the story. I think Celaena really grew a lot as a character in this book, and she changed into a much strong one in my opinion. It was a little annoying to have her wallowing in her self-pity ...more

This was a good book in the series about how Celaena really comes into her own as Aelin. I plan to continue with the series, but this one was a little long for me. And I'm probably the only one, but it seems Celaena falls for whichever guy is with her currently. I am impressed by how the author has made me care about Manon, such a despicable character. Of course, I think it is preparation for her to switch sides and fight FOR Aelin in later books, but that's just my opinion. Overall, good read. ...more
