This book is about the love between John of Gaunt and Katherine Swynford, where one of their future lineage becomes the King of England. The book is truly an epic, but I can't give it 5 stars because some of the storytelling is over the top and then other times, the books tends to drag along a bit.

A wonderful love story that is based on truth. I really enjoyed this book and I forget how I even came across it but I'm glad I did. There's also a little of English medieval history mixed in so that's always a winner for me.

Seton's research is meticulous and her characters are vibrant and engaging - definitely one worth blowing the dust off of.
