Ok, I have a new series that I will not be able to stop reading. Yes, you have to suspend belief throughout, but it is fun. In this book Jack tries to help a young woman with a bum knee, only to be sucked into a kidnapping plot.

Another Jack Reacher. Impossibly heroic, with an amazing knowledge of expolosives, armaments, and maths. As usual with a love interest who is unavailable, he saves the day again. Like the cover says "a thumping good read". Very apt.

In a way, this is a book that's probably more au courant now than it was when it was originally published (leaving aside fax machines as being necessary to the plot) - the concept of conspiracy theories and fear of government tyranny is perhaps hotter than ever right now. This one almost feels a little too real in "should these people really have guns" department.
