What Members Thought

The Summoning was an Addicted to YA BoTM for January 2015. Not fabulous, but fairly entertaining. A girl who can see ghosts ends up in a group home for other children with issues, though some mysterious element seems to link them all together. This book is the beginning of a trilogy, so the majority is a set up for all the real issues that must be explored more in future books. I'll likely read The Awakening when I get a chance.

This book was an easy read. It had some interesting concepts and was a fairly nice page turner. I wasn't fond of the abrupt ending in the middle of a major issue, but it wasn't a horrible ending.

Not a bad start to this urban fantasy series. Good character development of the magical beings Armstrong often uses in adult urban fantasies such as necromancers, etc. and an interesting beginning to the series, but it is pretty much just a buildup for the next book, which I do look forward to reading to learn what happens next. Comparing this first young adult work of Armstrong's to the adult novels of hers that I have read, I prefer her adult works but still say adults might enjoy this book, t
